MSEUF students volunteer with communities, NGOs to advance the SDGs

In 2024, Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation MSEUF continued to strengthen its commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals SDGs by engaging students in community service and volunteer initiatives that foster collaboration with government and non-government organizations.

Through its Community Extension Service (CES), the university provided students with opportunities to apply their learning beyond the classroom and contribute to sustainable community development.

One of the year’s highlights was the participation of MSEUF’s College of Education in the Brigada Eskwela 2024 kick-off on July 21. Faculty and students volunteered their time and skills to support public schools in preparation for the new academic year, assisting in classroom cleanups, minor repairs, and learning material organization. The initiative reflected MSEUF’s long-standing partnership with the Department of Education and local community organizations, demonstrating the university’s shared commitment to promoting inclusive and quality education for all.

Earlier in the year, the university’s Senior High School students under the Community Extension Service: The Enverga Sampaloc Way project conducted an outreach activity on January 12–13 that included the creation of vegetable gardens within the school grounds. This hands-on volunteer effort aimed to promote food security, environmental stewardship, and sustainable practices within the local community.

Beyond these efforts, MSEUF’s flagship CES programs in 2024 also included environmental drives, mangrove planting activities, and donation campaigns that mobilized students to collaborate with civic and faith-based organizations. These projects were anchored on the university’s mission of transformative education—developing responsible and service-oriented citizens who actively contribute to social good.

Through these volunteering initiatives, MSEUF reaffirmed its role as a socially responsive institution that empowers students to take part in real-world solutions. These activities directly supported SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by promoting active community involvement, SDG 4 (Quality Education) through experiential learning and educational support, SDG 13 (Climate Action) via environmental protection activities, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by strengthening ties with local and non-governmental partners.

By integrating student volunteering with the university’s community extension framework, MSEUF continues to nurture a culture of mindfulness, service, and unity—instilling in every Envergan the value of contributing to a more sustainable and compassionate society.
