The Dean of the College of International Hospitality and Tourism Management (CIHTM), Dr. Maricel Herrera, represented the university at the 1st Asia Pacific Summit for Event Leaders on October 24–25 at UCSI University Sarawak in Borneo, Malaysia.
Organized by the Asia Pacific Institute for Events Management (APIEM), the summit carried the theme “Achieving World-Class Status of Events, Hospitality, and Tourism Study Programs.” It brought together 27 distinguished delegates from Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, and the United Kingdom—countries where APIEM has institutional members.
Dr. Herrera’s participation in this gathering positioned MSEUF among regional leaders collaborating on global education standards. Through the exchange of insights, case studies, and performance data among participating universities, the summit facilitated the sharing of best practices for improving curriculum design, faculty development, and institutional assessment models—key areas for SDG-aligned data gathering and evaluation.
This engagement demonstrated MSEUF’s growing role in contributing to the international dialogue on higher education quality and sustainability. By collaborating with partner universities and professional networks across the Asia-Pacific region, MSEUF supports the continuous measurement and enhancement of educational outcomes tied to SDG indicators.
The university’s participation in this global forum reinforces its mission of excellence and service while strengthening its data-driven approach to institutional improvement. It also reflects its alignment with SDG 4 (Quality Education) through the pursuit of world-class learning standards, SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by shaping globally competent graduates for the tourism and hospitality industries, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through sustained collaboration with international academic and professional bodies.
