MSEUF expands safe, modern learning spaces that help safeguard heritage

Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation (MSEUF) advanced its commitment to protecting cultural and natural heritage by investing in new, purpose-built academic facilities, adding capacity for teaching and student life so heritage venues can be preserved and used appropriately for culture, exhibitions, and community events.

On July 18, 2024, the University held the inaugural blessing of its three-storey College of Criminal Justice and Criminology (CCJC) building. University leaders and guests joined the ceremony as EVP Dr. Benilda Villenas underscored that the facility is “a beacon of knowledge, justice, and dedication,” and a space where “future leaders will be molded.” The event highlighted CCJC’s progression from its 1986 founding to PACUCOA accreditation milestones and Center of Excellence status—signaling sustained investment in high-quality, fit-for-purpose infrastructure.

Earlier, on May 17, 2024, MSEIFI–San Antonio inaugurated a new senior high school building with six classrooms, expanding access to modern learning environments for the community it serves. The additional rooms relieve pressure on older facilities and support safe, organized student flows—conditions that indirectly protect heritage spaces by avoiding overcrowding and misuse.

Why new facilities support SDG 11

Building and opening appropriate, code-compliant academic spaces achieves this in three practical ways:

  • Capacity & conservation: More classrooms and specialized rooms shift heavy daily use away from heritage structures, allowing them to host curated cultural programming rather than routine spillover traffic.

  • Safety & stewardship: New buildings are designed for current safety and accessibility standards, helping the campus meet demand without overloading older, historically significant areas.

  • Program fit: Purpose-built facilities (e.g., for criminology) align space with pedagogy and research needs, so heritage venues can be preserved, interpreted, and enjoyed for what they are—cultural assets.

These infrastructure gains reflect MSEUF’s values—Mindfulness, Service, Excellence, Unity, and Fortitude—by pairing academic growth with heritage stewardship: modern buildings handle everyday load; heritage spaces remain protected, meaningful, and open for the community.
