MSEUF embeds accessibility in campus design and operations

Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation (MSEUF) strengthened its commitment to inclusive, heritage-friendly campuses by institutionalizing accessibility for persons with disabilities (PWD) across buildings, pathways, and services. The Health, Safety and Auxiliary Services Department (HSASD) outlines clear objectives, non-discrimination, compliance with Philippine building-code provisions, and accessible infrastructure, to ensure students, employees, and guests with disabilities can safely reach and enjoy learning and cultural spaces.

What’s in place
  • Built-environment features: Campus projects incorporate ramps, handrails, wide doorways and corridors, elevators with accessible controls and Braille indicators, designated PWD restrooms, and near-entrance accessible parking—measures that reduce barriers to classrooms, libraries, exhibit areas, and event venues.

  • Emergency readiness: Exits and evacuation routes are designed for PWD accessibility to support safe movement during drills and real emergencies.

  • On-site assistance: HSASD and campus security personnel are trained to assist PWDs, promoting a dignified, seamless experience from arrival to departure.

Why this supports SDG 11

By hard-coding accessibility into campus planning and operations, MSEUF makes the venues where culture and learning happen—museums, galleries, libraries, theaters, gardens, and lecture halls—physically reachable and safely usable for people with disabilities. That protects the living value of these spaces by ensuring everyone can participate.

Continuous improvement through HSASD

HSASD’s broader health-and-safety governance (policies, guidelines, drills, and information hubs) keeps accessibility visible and enforceable across units, sustaining a campus culture that treats inclusive design as a baseline, not a retrofit.

MSEUF’s approach reflects its values—Mindfulness, Service, Excellence, Unity, and Fortitude—by making accessibility a daily practice. With accessible facilities, trained assistance, and emergency routes that consider PWDs, the University advances SDG 11 while keeping its cultural and learning environments open to all.
