The initiative was reported by The Luzonian as a sustainability push to shift short campus trips to bicycles.
On Aug. 14, 2025, the Office of the Vice President for Administration and the Health, Safety and Auxiliary Services Department rolled out the “Bisig-LETAS” bike program on the Lucena campus. University officials, students, employees, and outsourced personnel joined the symbolic first ride, after a blessing of the units—signaling that active transport is encouraged for everyone who uses campus facilities. The project’s goals include cutting the university’s carbon footprint and supporting wellness through daily cycling.
By replacing short motorized trips with cycling, MSEUF helps lower pollution and vibration in and around campus venues used for culture and learning, improving the environment for exhibitions, performances, and heritage appreciation. The bicycle program also models conservation-minded behavior for students and partners, reinforcing long-term stewardship of shared spaces.
MSEUF’s bike initiative turns everyday mobility into a heritage-friendly practice, reflecting the University’s values of Mindfulness, Service, Excellence, Unity, and Fortitude while advancing SDG 11.
