MSEUF formalizes sustainability governance and supports safe access to heritage

Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation (MSEUF) signaled its commitment to protecting cultural assets by publishing the MSEUF Sustainability Report 2024, a universitywide reference that aligns programs and policies with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and UI GreenMetric indicators, and by operating health-and-safety initiatives that keep community spaces safe and usable for learning and cultural activities on campus.

The 2024 report confirms that MSEUF anchors strategies, programs, and policies on SDG frameworks, positioning the university to plan and account for results across sustainability themes—an essential first step toward systematically tracking resources and outcomes for cultural heritage protection under SDG 11.

To ensure that culture- and learning-related venues remain welcoming and resilient, the Health and Safety Office (HSO) launched “Bantay Kalusugan, Malusog na Envergan,” strengthening medical surveillance and preventive measures (including the deployment of DOST-developed mosquito OL traps). The initiative contributes to SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by promoting a healthier, safer campus community, conditions that support the continued use of shared spaces for cultural and educational engagement.

Why this supports SDG 11

SDG 11.4 calls on institutions to protect and safeguard cultural and natural heritage; Indicator 11.4.1 emphasizes the governance and resourcing behind that protection. By (1) releasing a sustainability report that aligns university programs with SDG standards and measurement systems and (2) running operations that safeguard the campus environment where cultural activities happen, MSEUF is building the management backbone needed to plan, allocate, and report on heritage-supportive investments over time.

These efforts reflect MSEUF’s values—Mindfulness, Service, Excellence, Unity, Fortitude—by coupling transparent sustainability governance with day-to-day safety practices, laying a durable foundation for protecting and sharing cultural heritage with students, employees, and the wider community.
