During a reunion that brought together 45 former UCSC officers at the Dr. Tobias Y. Enverga Sr. (DTYES) Alumni Center of Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation (MSEUF), The attendees formally organized the University Collegiate Student Council Alumni Association (UCSCAA), Aug. 2.

The event, with the theme “Milestones of Leadership: Connecting Eras, Inspiring Futures,” was initiated by the current UCSC in partnership with the Office of Scholarships and Endowment, Job Placement and Alumni Relations (OSEJPAR).

Manuela Pineda, former UCSC chairperson in 1995, was elected president of the newly established UCSC Alumni Association. “During our term, we launched a scholarship program that supported six students,” Pineda said. “Seeing how far student leadership has come makes this gathering even more meaningful.”

Director Maria Isabel Granada, UCSC head in 2000 and current OSEJPAR director, reflected on one of her council’s major accomplishments. “Our team successfully engaged the administration in a dialogue that led to the freezing of tuition fee increases,” she said.

Patricia Villanueva, elected vice president of the association, emphasized how her batch fostered collaboration. “We built strong coordination with department student councils, which helped us implement UCSC-wide programs more efficiently,” she said.

“These stories are living proof that the UCSC has been a solid training ground for student leaders who carry their values into the real world,” Granada added.

The reunion also featured the launch of Dokyusentro, a digital records management system and official UCSC webpage accessible through the MSEUF website. The current UCSC officers developed the system to preserve the institutional memory of student governance.

Outgoing UCSC officers and recent graduates received plaques of recognition for their service. Dr. Sylvia S. Avila, director of the Human Resource Department, presented the awards during the program.

Vice President for External Relations Celso D. Jaballa opened the event with a message acknowledging the impact of student leadership on the university’s development.
