The University Collegiate Student Council (UCSC) for Academic Year 2023-2024 has shown a strong commitment to enhancing student life by crafting 24 resolutions and introducing department-specific initiatives to meet the university community's unique needs. These efforts reflect a proactive approach to fostering a supportive, connected, and thriving campus environment where every student feels valued and supported.

As the second semester approached, the UCSC gathered on January 8, 2024, at the 2nd level of the Student Lounge, to outline the General Planning of Activities (GPOA) for the rest of the academic year. This planning session marked a significant moment, as council members and department representatives shared their ideas and goals for creating a more enriching campus experience. Each department had an opportunity to present initiatives aimed at addressing the needs and challenges their students face, underscoring the UCSC’s dedication to listening and responding to the student body.

In support of campus-wide needs, the UCSC will provide additional audio equipment, ensuring that student organizations and departments can host events with ease and high-quality sound. This is just one of many collaborative efforts spearheaded by the council to bring a greater sense of community to the university.

The departments also introduced initiatives specific to their students, each addressing unique requirements. For example, the College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences (CNAHS) will distribute Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits to students, reinforcing a commitment to health and safety. In the College of International Hospitality and Tourism Management (CIHTM), students will soon benefit from new speakers, microphones, and tables, which will enhance hands-on learning experiences and group interactions. Engineering students, too, are a focus: 40 students in each year level will receive Lightpads, valuable tools that encourage creativity and precision in technical drawing and project work.

For students in the College of Computing and Multimedia Studies (CCMS), the UCSC has arranged free subscriptions to CodeChum, a platform that will enable them to deepen their coding skills and explore advanced programming languages—an essential resource for future tech professionals. Meanwhile, the College of Business Administration (CBA) is launching two programs to strengthen academic and career support for students. A book assistance program will make essential texts more accessible, while the Bookwise Certification Initiative will provide CBA students with certifications that enhance their readiness for the business world.

Understanding the practical needs of students across the campus, UCSC is also establishing an accessible printer in the AEC Building, allowing students to conveniently print documents and materials on campus. For those in the College of Architecture and Fine Arts (CAFA), UCSC will provide drafting and art materials to select students, ensuring they have the resources needed to bring their creative visions to life.

These resolutions and initiatives illustrate the UCSC’s commitment to building a vibrant and supportive university environment. Each project speaks to a broader vision—one where students’ academic, personal, and social needs are prioritized and addressed. Through these collaborative efforts, the UCSC is paving the way for a semester filled with growth, connection, and opportunity for every member of the university community.

It emphasizes UCSC's commitment not only to campus development but also to supporting Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16.2.2, which aims to promote peaceful and inclusive societies. Through these initiatives, the UCSC strives to create a university environment where students feel safe, valued, and supported, aligning with global goals to foster inclusivity, protect student well-being, and encourage active participation within a vibrant and respectful community.

MSEUF acknowledges the importance of student representation by officially recognizing an independent students' union. This union serves as a platform for students to voice their concerns, advocate for their rights, and engage in decision-making processes within the university.

In [month/year], the university collaborated with the students' union to host a forum aimed at discussing issues relevant to the student body, fostering a sense of community and shared governance.
