Newly elected officers of the University Collegiate Student Council and Department Student Councils of Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation formally assumed their leadership roles during an oath-taking ceremony held Sept. 22 at the Library Seminar Hall to begin their term for the academic year.

Students, faculty members and university administrators attended the ceremony, which marked the official start of the officers’ leadership responsibilities.

Benilda Villenas, executive vice president and vice president for academics and research, congratulated the new officers through a recorded message and reminded them that the University’s core values should guide their leadership.

“Student leaders play an important role in shaping the university community,” Villenas said. “Remain courageous in addressing challenges and committed to improving the student experience.”

Dario Opistan, vice president for administration, emphasized the importance of ethical leadership and accountability in serving the student body. He encouraged the officers to uphold integrity, fairness and transparency in their decisions.

Former University Student Council president Gianne Pagana served as guest speaker and shared insights from her experience as a student leader. She encouraged the officers to cultivate trust, cooperation and compassion as they represent their fellow students.

The highlight of the ceremony came when the UCSC and DSC officers took their oath, pledging to fulfill their duties and advocate for the interests of the student community.

The program concluded with a photo session with university officials, speakers and the newly elected leaders, signaling the start of a new term focused on responsible and student-centered governance.

The ceremony reflected the University’s core values of Service, Unity and Fortitude by preparing student leaders to serve the campus community with integrity and dedication. It also supported student-centered education by empowering learners to participate actively in governance and leadership.
