OSAS director, counselors publish social media and GAD sensitivity research in PEARL Bulletin
Joana Fe B. Panganiban, Director, and Rey Marco Z. Casino and Daizelene C. Jabrica, Guidance Counselors from the Office of Student Affairs and Services published their research Boon or Bane: Social Media's Role in Gender and Development Sensitviity of Students in PASCU Execellent Academic Research (PEARL) Bulletin Vol. 4, No. 1, on May 2024.
The study investigated gender differences in terms of social media roles and gender sensitivity.
The research also sought to determine social media usage in terms of platforms used, contents of post, and motivations for using networking sites.
The perceived impact of social media on gender sensitivity in terms of gender roles, personality traits, self-presentation, self-expression, and attitudes toward expectations and aspirations are also investigated.
OSAS director and counselors have concluded in the study that social media provides a space for empowerment, expression of users’ unique ideas, and networks to carve out one’s own identity, allowing users to hide their true self, and post personal achievements which are found to vary between genders.
