Philippine Air Force honors HRD head as ‘Reservist of the Year’

Recognizing her commitment to military reserve service alongside her professional responsibilities, Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation Human Resource Department Head Dr. Maria Sylvs Avila received the “Reservist of the Year” award during a Philippine Air Force anniversary celebration on Oct. 3 at Bactoll Hall, Fernando Air Base in Lipa City, Batangas.
The recognition highlighted Dr. Avila’s service as a reservist and her commitment to contributing her professional knowledge, skills and time to national service while fulfilling her responsibilities in the civilian sector.
“Being a reservist, for me, means being ready to serve whenever and wherever needed,” Dr. Avila said. “It means bringing our professional knowledge, skills, time and heart into the service of our country.”
Avila also emphasized the responsibility of balancing professional and military commitments. “It means balancing civilian responsibilities with military duties and still choosing to answer the call,” she said.
Her recognition reflects the role of reservists in supporting public service while continuing to contribute to their respective professions and communities.
For MSEUF, the award also highlights the spirit of service and commitment demonstrated by members of the University community beyond their institutional responsibilities.
The recognition reflected MSEUF’s core values of Service and Fortitude through Avila’s commitment to both her professional responsibilities and military reserve service. Her experience also demonstrates how members of the University community can apply their knowledge and skills in service to the wider community and the country.
