CAFA supports local culture through Lucena's creative public space program

The Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation College of Architecture and Fine Arts promoted local culture and public spaces through creative expression on Sept. 21, along Quezon Avenue and M.L. Tagarao Street in collaboration with the Lucena Council for Culture and the Arts and the Car-free Carefree Sunday event committee.

The activity gathered members of the CAFA community in support of Lucena City’s cultural and civic initiatives. Through their participation, the college helped transform the streets into spaces for creativity, community interaction and appreciation of local culture.

The initiative aligned with the goals of the Car-free Carefree Sunday event, which encourages residents to enjoy safer, more open and people-centered public spaces. CAFA’s involvement highlighted how art, design and architecture can contribute to more vibrant, inclusive and livable communities.

In collaboration with the Lucena Council for Culture and the Arts and the event committee, the college supported efforts to make culture more visible and accessible to the public. The activity showed how creative expression can strengthen community identity and inspire people to take part in cultural programs.

CAFA’s participation also reflected the role of academic institutions in enriching public life beyond the classroom. By bringing creative work into shared spaces, the college encouraged appreciation for the arts while supporting community engagement and local cultural development.

Through the activity, MSEUF continued to advance community extension through discipline-based service, using the talents and skills of its students and personnel to support public programs that celebrate culture, creativity and civic participation.
