HSAS director represents Ph at Airlangga International Climate Diplomacy '25

Arby Lagman, director of Health, Safety, and Auxiliary Services at Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation, represented the Philippines at the Airlangga International Climate Diplomacy (AICD) 2025, held in Surabaya, Indonesia. Lagman was the only Filipino delegate among 92 participants from around the world.

The international event gathered advocates, policymakers, and professionals committed to advancing climate diplomacy and sustainability. Despite the Philippines facing the impact of Super Typhoon Uwan during the event, Lagman shared that the experience deepened his resolve to advocate for climate justice and resilience.

“It was a strange and powerful feeling — talking about climate diplomacy and sustainability while my own country faced the harsh realities of the climate crisis,” Lagman said. “The timing served as a strong reminder that what we advocate for in global spaces has direct impacts on lives back home.”

Beyond lectures and policy dialogues, the AICD 2025 also featured mangrove planting and a coastal cleanup activity, where delegates took part in hands-on environmental restoration efforts.

These activities emphasized the importance of community-driven sustainability and environmental stewardship.

Participants were also treated to a cultural show that showcased Indonesia’s rich traditions, fostering intercultural appreciation and unity among the international delegates.

Lagman expressed gratitude to the MSEUF management for supporting his participation, adding that he carried with him “the stories, strength, and hopes of the Filipino people” throughout the international forum.

His representation at AICD 2025 highlights MSEUF’s commitment to global engagement and environmental awareness, aligning with the university’s mission to develop professionals who contribute to sustainable and inclusive growth.

This milestone reflects MSEUF’s core values of Mindfulness, Service, and Fortitude, as the university continues to champion global citizenship and environmental responsibility.
