The Library’s Internet workstations are primarily for research, educational, and informational use. Time limits are enforced to ensure that all customers have the opportunity to use the Internet resources. Users of the Internet must be responsible, consistent and behave properly in the library. They should be quiet and courteous toward other users and careful of library equipment.

SERVICES

The Library User Information System Section provides an effective service for the academic staff, the students, and other library users by assisting them to obtain maximum benefit from available information resources from the Internet.

LOCATION

The Library User Information System Section is located at the first floor of the University Libraries. It is fully air-conditioned and has thirteen (13) computer units, three of which are servers. The section can accommodate ten (10) users at a time.

GUIDELINES FOR LIBRARY INTERNET USE

The Internet and other online systems are intended to support the mission/vision of the University Libraries. The Library User Information System Section has a total of Thirteen (13) computers. Ten (10) units are for accessing the Internet, and three (3) for the servers.

Guidelines to assure equitable and widespread use of library resources:

1.) Students officially enrolled for the current term shall have an Internet access time of thirty five (35) hours per semester, free of charge, on a “first come, first served” basis. Internet sessions are limited to one (1) hour per day.

2.) The section can only be used for course work and related research. No recreational use of computers is permitted. This includes chatting, , and SMS messaging. Anyone violating this will be subjected to disciplinary action.

3.) Internet services may not be used for the purpose of transmitting or storing of material that is , libelous or defamatory. Attempts to obtain unauthorized access to alteration of either local or remote computer systems or networks are strictly prohibited. This means no one is allowed to download any software into the system (Hotmail, Yahoo and other installations). Anyone violating this will be subjected to disciplinary action.

4.) If a user is late more than 15 minutes for a reserved time, his/her privilege will be forfeited for that time.

5.) All users must sign up on the Internet sign-up sheet, noting the time of usage and workstation number.

6.) Only students, faculty or staff with LUISS Internet card will be allowed inside the section.

7.) Faculty and non-teaching personnel may avail of the library Internet service from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.

8.) The staff of the LUISS reserves the right to limit the number of users per available computer at a time.

9.) Basic assistance from the LUISS staff may be provided upon request.
