The Institute of Graduate Studies and Research Library (IGSRL) is committed to be an instrument in upholding the vision/mission of the University as a center of excellence. It provides materials that are responsive to the needs of the faculty members and students of the Institute. Provision of more diversified range of materials that will serve in-depth researches and highly advanced studies is ensured to cope with the challenges of times. The Graduate School Library houses and circulates materials for advance studies in support of the curricular offerings of the Institute of Graduate Studies and Research.

Access to the Collection

Collection in this section are encoded in the computer. The library adopts the controlled “open shelf” system where users can get inside to choose by themselves the books they would like to browse/use. Theses, dissertations research collateral or research compilations of the different graduate courses are also available in this section. Photocopying of theses and dissertation is strictly not allowed.

SERVICES

Direct service to the readers pursuing advance studies is the concern of the Institute of Graduate Studies and Research Library. It handles the charging out and the return of books for home use. Newly acquired books are temporarily treated like Reserved Books and they are available for “room use” only or “overnight loan” until they become part of the general collection of the library. IGRSL also houses general reference materials such as Encyclopedias, handbooks, manuals and directories, which are needed for locating specific materials or information. Reference books are for “room use” only.

BORROWING PROCEDURES

The University Libraries endeavor to provide and maintain up-to-date relevant resources, whether book or non-book materials to the MSEUF community as a means of achieving the University’s goals and objectives.

The Library adopts the controlled/modified “open shelf” systems meaning a reader may go to the stacks area and select which books to use, provided these are properly and officially charged/loaned out at the charging counter.

Faculty members/administrators, and non-teaching personnel may borrow five (5) circulation books for one (1) week and reserved books for one (1) day. Books on loan can be renewed for another week unless needed or reserved by other library users.

Graduate students can borrow two (2) circulation books for one (1) week and reserved books for three (3) hours. A fine of P6.00 per day for circulation books and P2.00 per hour for reserved books, will be imposed if books are not returned on the due dates inclusive of Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

Alumni, ETEEAP students and other outside users are not allowed to bring out books but they can photocopy the books.

NOTES:

Loan period for books for home use closes one (1) week before the final examinations. the closing time of the library to clear desks and to backup computer data for the next library day service.
