MSEUF holds 31st Research Colloquium to advance global research excellence
The Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation, through the Dr. Cesar A. Villariba Research and Knowledge Management Institute, conducted its 31st Research Colloquium on June 5 at the MSEUF AEC Little Theater to strengthen the University’s research culture, promote innovation and support global academic collaboration.
Anchored on the theme “Futuring Research for Upholding Global Excellence,” the colloquium gathered faculty members, researchers, students and academic leaders for a day of scholarly presentations, discussions and recognition of outstanding research outputs.
Dr. Claudia Odette Ayala, acting vice president for academics and research, opened the program and emphasized the importance of sustaining research initiatives that contribute to institutional growth, innovation and academic distinction.
Dr. Felix Mercado, dean of the Dr. Cesar A. Villariba Research and Knowledge Management Institute, presented the objectives and rationale of the colloquium. He underscored the role of research in generating new knowledge, advancing academic excellence and strengthening the University’s global competitiveness.
“How can research help shape the future we aspire to create?” Mercado asked, challenging participants to look beyond research presentations and reflect on how scholarship can help build a more sustainable and future-ready society.
He also connected the research papers to key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4, quality education; SDG 3, good health and well-being; SDG 8, decent work and economic growth; SDG 9, industry, innovation and infrastructure; SDG 13, climate action; SDG 16, peace, justice and strong institutions; and SDG 17, partnerships for the goals.
Dr. Mohd Raziff Jamaluddin, head of corporate communication at the Institute of Business Excellence, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia, served as plenary speaker. Ms. Rose Anne Reyes introduced Jamaluddin, who discussed research productivity, innovation and international collaboration as key drivers of scholarly impact and global responsiveness.
Jamaluddin highlighted the need for universities to foster creativity, strengthen interdisciplinary engagement, embrace emerging technologies and build strategic international partnerships. He said these efforts help institutions remain relevant and globally competitive in an increasingly interconnected world.
The colloquium also featured research presentations and scholarly discussions that allowed participants to exchange ideas, present research outputs and explore possible collaborative initiatives.
As part of the program, MSEUF recognized outstanding research papers through the University’s Best Paper Agenda. The awardees were:

- Arby Lagman, Environmental Protection, Development and Conservation Research
- Dr. Jennifer Reyes, Business, Economics and Industry 4.0 Research
- Korina Marie Alibuyog, Politics, Society and Culture Research
- Hazel Ann Asoy, Legal, Law Enforcement and Criminology Research
- Maridel Mangaron, Health Research, Development, Innovation and Extension Research
- Carina Mogol, Education 4.0 and Workforce 4.0 Research
The recognition highlighted the quality, relevance and impact of the University’s scholarly work and affirmed MSEUF’s commitment to excellence in knowledge creation, innovation and dissemination.
Jade Oraa served as program manager and helped coordinate the activities that contributed to the success of the University’s premier research gathering.
Through the Research Colloquium, MSEUF continued to strengthen its research culture, expand opportunities for academic collaboration and nurture a future-ready research ecosystem that empowers scholars to address emerging challenges and contribute to sustainable development.
The 31st Research Colloquium reflected MSEUF’s vision of becoming a globally competitive university through research, innovation and international collaboration. It also embodied the University’s core values of Excellence, Service and Unity by advancing scholarly work that responds to societal needs and supports transformative knowledge-building.
