Showcasing culinary skills and teamwork, students from the College of International Hospitality and Tourism Management of Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation emerged champion among 11 entries in the ASEAN Food Fest–Brunei competition during CHED CALABARZON’s “ASEAN Voyage 2026: The Grand Final Sail” on Sept. 1 at St. Dominic College of Asia in Bacoor, Cavite.

Gerby Daniel Enverga competed in the Main Course category, Sam Emmanuel Capellan represented the University in Street Food, while Elizah Lovise Mercado competed in Local Beverage.

The competitors received support from Kryzel Ann De Mesa, Ma. Vibecca Buban, Dominic Andal, Shiela Glifonea, Irvin Amparo, Mc Gyver Guevarra, Alessandra Apring and Nica Magsino.

Chef Reinhold Cerillo and Eimil Hidalgo coached the team throughout its preparation and participation in the competition.

The championship highlighted the students’ ability to apply their hospitality and culinary training in a competitive setting while working collaboratively in preparing and presenting their entries.

Through the achievement, the CIHTM team demonstrated the value of experiential learning, technical preparation and teamwork in developing competencies relevant to the hospitality and culinary industries.


The achievement supported the University’s commitment to learning by doing and outcomes-oriented education by allowing students to apply culinary knowledge and skills in an intercollegiate competition. It also reflected the core values of Excellence, Unity and Fortitude through preparation, collaboration and competitive performance.
