CIHTM supports sustainable agriculture as part of community service

The Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation College of International Hospitality and Tourism Management cleaned a farm, pruned existing plants and planted additional dragon fruit trees  to support sustainable agriculture, responsible resource use and care for the environment.

The activity engaged CIHTM participants in hands-on farm work that helped maintain the area and improve the growth of existing plants. They cleared the farm, pruned plants that needed care and planted additional dragon fruit trees to contribute to long-term farm productivity.

Through the initiative, the students showed how hospitality and tourism education can extend beyond classrooms, laboratories and industry settings. The activity gave participants an opportunity to understand the value of sustainable food production, environmental care and community-based agricultural support.

The planting of dragon fruit trees also supported efforts to promote productive and responsible use of land. By helping care for the farm, CIHTM contributed to a more sustainable local food system and encouraged practices that protect natural resources.

The activity reflected the college’s commitment to community extension through service rooted in practical action. It also encouraged participants to appreciate the connection between food, environment, tourism and community development.

Through the farm care and planting activity, CIHTM continued to support MSEUF’s mission of community service by promoting sustainability, environmental responsibility and meaningful engagement with the community.
