OSEJPAR launches PEP Talks; alumni mentors equip graduating students with employment-ready skills
Graduating students from the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) and the College of Business and Accountancy (CBA) gained valuable insights into the job application process during PEP Talks, held at the Alumni Center of Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation, Feb. 21.
The event featured alumni mentors who currently lead Human Resource departments in their respective organizations. Their shared expertise offered students a closer look at what hiring professionals truly value, equipping them with practical tools for their transition from campus to career.
Ronelie Venerayan, alumna and HR Head of the Andaman Group of Companies, shared effective strategies for preparing a compelling resume. She emphasized the importance of showcasing relevant skills and competencies without being overly lengthy.
“A two-page resume is ideal,” Ms. Venerayan advised. “It should highlight your strengths, educational background, and training in a way that impresses HR personnel while remaining concise and easy to read.”
Meanwhile, Dr. Criselda Cabangaon, alumna and Human Resource Department Head of the Lucena City Government, discussed how to succeed in job interviews. She underscored the importance of doing research about the company's mission and vision, and aligning one’s answers accordingly. Dr. Cabangaon also demonstrated effective communication techniques both verbal and non-verbal to help students deliver their responses with clarity and confidence.
“Knowing who you want to work for shows commitment,” she explained. “It’s not just about answering questions—it’s about answering them with intention, purpose, and presence.”
By directly connecting students with seasoned HR professionals, PEP Talks proved to be a relevant and empowering session. It not only reinforced MSEUF’s commitment to life-long alumni engagement, but also helped ensure that future graduates step into the job market equipped with the knowledge and confidence they need to succeed.
