OSAS BED-GTO hosts ‘Techy si Mommy at Daddy’ forum on digital parenting

To provide parents with strategies for guiding their children toward responsible social media use, the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS), through the Basic Education Department Guidance and Testing Office (BED-GTO), organized a forum for parents Techy si Mommy at Daddy: A Forum on Digital Parenting at the AEC Little Theater, where 69 parents attended the event, Sept. 29.

Dr. Carla Marie David-Carandang, Principal of Quezon National High School, served as the resource speaker.

Dr. David-Carandang began her presentation by surveying the audience on the social media applications they had on their phones, where she found that most parents had Facebook, Messenger, and TikTok. Dr. Carla discussed both the advantages and potential risks of these platforms for children, emphasizing the critical role parents play in monitoring their children’s use of social media.

Dr. David-Carandang also shared practical tips for maximizing effective digital parenting where she concluded with two videos, underscoring the importance of balancing screen time with physical activities to strengthen parent-child relationships.

hanna Beth Lusterio, SHS faculty member, hosted the forum. opened with an invocation, while Ma’am Fe Bartiana, BEd Principal, delivered her opening remarks, expressing her gratitude to the parents for their participation and hopes that the forum would provide valuable insights.

In her closing remarks, Maritoni D. Regio, Assistant Principal, thanked the parents for their participation and looked forward to more events like this one.

Parents expressed that the forum was informative, providing them with new strategies and insights for supporting their children’s responsible social media use.
