The MSEUF Guidance and Testing Offices have conducted monthly counseling case deliberations since August, the opening of the academic year 2024-2025. Registered guidance counselors and academic support staff across all levels gather to collaboratively share their counseling experiences to ensure clients are getting appropriate intervention.

The program aims to make a holistic assessment of the client by utilizing the collaborative effort of a team of counselors and thus provide a more effective intervention for the counselees. Through their group effort, the team seeks to provide guidance and emotional support to students encountering crises, adjustments, and transitions. Likewise, it offers a nonjudgmental space for students to explore their options and develop self-awareness helping them gain insight in managing and overcoming personal challenges.

The team, led by the Counseling Cases Deliberation chairperson Daizelene Jabrica monthly collates the concerns of each counselor to seek secondary opinions from co-counselors. During the deliberation, the counselors wholeheartedly share their insights to promote diversity and inclusivity among students and to foster high regard for different cultures, faiths, and genders.

The activity is among the various counseling services offered which include individual counseling, group counseling, and multicultural counseling which are all delivered through on-ground and online modalities.

The collaboration seeks to attain Sustainable Development Goal No. 3: Good Health and Well-Being, by providing mental health support through balancing empathy and professional judgment. It also aligns with Sustainable Development Goal No. 4: Quality Education, wherein students’ mental health is considered a key factor in their academic success. And lastly, Sustainable Development Goal No. 5: Gender Equality, ensuring that counselors’ empathy and professional judgment are used to address gender-specific challenges.
