OSAS joins CAFA in Freshies' Orientation
To familiarize students with the department’s academic services, policies, university officials, and available support services, the Office of Students Affairs (OSAS) joined the College of Architecture and Fine Arts (CAFA) orientation for new students.
Dr. Benilda Villenas, Executive Vice President inspired the attendees through an audio-visual presentation.
"The University serves as a nurturing ground where dreams take root, innovative ideas are born, and futures are shaped through academic excellence and personal growth," Dr. Villenas said.
"You are not alone on this journey, as they belong to a vibrant community of learners and achievers committed to supporting one another" added Dr. Villenas reminding the students that several services are available for students to avail.
April Marquez, CAFA Guidance counselor discussed the OSAS Services, emphasizing the importance of getting engaged with their counselors in providing essential support in their academic, social-emotional, personal, and career lives and to promote a positive school environment, improved student outcomes, and their overall well-being.
The mission, vision, goal, and core values of the University through audio-visual presentation were presented.
Subsequently, the Gender and Development Coordinator, through Maria Isabel Granada, discussed the objectives and activities of the program, highlighting equal opportunities and rights where development initiatives contribute to the empowerment and well-being of every student, regardless of gender.
The final part of the orientation is the presentation of other support services through audiovisual presentation.
Assoc. Prof. Melba Sardea, one of the faculty members of CAFA faciliaited the event.
This initiative supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-Being, by promoting mental health care and addressing the diverse needs of the student population through specialized services. It also aligns with SDG 4: Quality Education, as it ensures that all students, including those with learning and developmental challenges, receive the necessary support to thrive academically and personally, and SDG 5: Gender Equality, as the goal is to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls. It focuses on ending discrimination, violence, and harmful practices against women and girls while promoting equal opportunities in leadership, education, and economic participation.
