Career COMPASS helps first-year students map skills, career goals
Helping first-year students identify their skills and begin planning for future professional opportunities, the Office of Student Affairs and Services of Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation conducted the first installment of its Career COMPASS series in August at the University Gymnasium.
Around 1,050 first-year students participated in the program, which focused on skills identification and mapping as foundations for career readiness. Event chairperson Jonathan Magnata helped facilitate the activity and encouraged participants to begin developing professional competencies early in their academic journey.
OSAS Guidance Counselor Aira Abad delivered the opening remarks and emphasized the importance of career readiness in students’ professional development and preparation for future opportunities.
Atty. Jerwin Rodelas, a lawyer from the public sector, served as the resource speaker and discussed practical strategies for career preparation and goal-setting. His session provided students with guidance on how they can prepare for and pursue their career goals as they progress through their university education.
Rodelas delivered the discussion through an interactive simulation activity that encouraged students to participate and apply concepts introduced during the session. Participants also joined an open forum where they raised questions about career preparation and development.
Through the first Career COMPASS activity, OSAS provided students with an early opportunity to reflect on their abilities, explore professional competencies and take a more deliberate approach to their future career development.
The activity supported MSEUF’s commitment to student-centered and outcomes-oriented education by helping students recognize their competencies and begin connecting their academic experiences with future professional goals. It also reflected the core values of Mindfulness and Excellence by encouraging self-awareness, purposeful career planning and continuous personal development.
