The College of International Hospitality and Tourism Management (CIHTM) of Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation conducted a six-day international educational tour in Vietnam, April 19-24.
Sixty-nine students, two faculty members, and two coordinating staff from DonsTravel Educational Tours joined the activity, which was organized by Demark Catan, faculty-in-charge. Rose Anne Reyes, Program Head of Tourism Management, also joined the group.
The tour formed part of Enverga University’s EU FLIGHT (Framework for Leading Innovations in Global Harmonization and Transition) program, which supports students’ global competence through international exposure.
“The Vietnam tour allowed our students to experience real-world practices in tourism and cruise management,” Catan said. “This supports the university’s commitment to providing outcomes-based learning that prepares students for global careers.”
The group assembled at the Lucena campus on April 18 before flying to Hanoi via Cebu Pacific and Vietnam Airlines. They visited the Tran Quoc Pagoda, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, One Pillar Pagoda, and landmarks around the Old Quarter including Hoan Kiem Lake, Ngoc Son Temple, and The Big Church.
On April 20, the group boarded Le Journey Premium and Ruby Cruise for an overnight cruise on Halong Bay. They visited Paradise Grotto and a traditional fishing village and joined on-board activities such as squid catching and Tai Chi.
The participants returned to Hanoi on April 21, with a brief stop at Mega Grand World. On April 22, they traveled to Sapa where they explored Cat Cat Village and dined at Red Dzao House and Indigo Restaurant.
On April 23, the group visited Fansipan Peak, taking a 20-minute cable car and hiking to the summit known as the “Roof of Indochina.” They returned to Hanoi afterward and departed for Manila in two batches on April 24.
“The experience gave us insight into how culture, nature, and community shape tourism in other countries,” said one of the student participants. “We saw how global standards are applied in real settings.”
- The Vietnam educational tour aligned with MSEUF’s vision to develop globally competent graduates, its mission to deliver responsive programs, and its core values of mindfulness, excellence, unity, and service.
