CEd honors Nana Charing in annual musical tribute
College of Education (CEd) of the Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation (MSEUF) led a heartfelt musical spectacle honoring the life and contributions of Doña Rosario Lopez-Enverga, also lovingly referred to as Nana Charing, AEC Little Theater, April 4.
Her contributions as a wife, mother, and matriarch were honored in the annual event titled “Nana Charing: Asawa, Ina, Matriyarka.” It included a series of performances that vividly depicted Doña Rosario’s life, directed by Dr. Marco Antonio Rodas.
The MSEUF Concert Singers gave a moving performance of “Gaano Ko Ikaw Kamahal” by Ernani Cuenco to start the event, illustrating the intense love that existed between Nana Charing and her husband, Maning.
With their rendition of “Aray!” by the Banyuhay Dance Troupe, the emotional depth persisted, which represented the elegance and grace of Doña Rosario. Also, the audience was enthralled by Prof. Hubert Loresto and Hailey Kate Laqui’s interpretations of Nana Charing and Maning, respectively. As they paid tribute to the woman who had impacted so many lives, their performances struck a chord with the crowd, eliciting cheers and tears.
A stirring rendition of Lucio San Pedro’s national anthem, “Sa Mahal Kong Bayan,” was also included in the tribute, which cheered up everyone in attendance. The afternoon was further enhanced by additional performances by the Roscean Squad, Jumeirah Atienza, Deborah Pasamba, Allen Jerhsey de Leon, and Lexter Alpuerto, all of whom helped to vividly portray Nana Charing’s tenacity and determination.
The MSEUF Dance Sports Team, along with students from the Society of Culture, Arts, and Physical Education (SCAPE), embodied the values that Doña Rosario upheld by bringing passion and energy to the stage. The MSEUF Concert Singers’ moving rendition of “Nais Ko,” which represents Nana Charing and Maning’s common dreams, brought the event to a close.
The audience was reminded of Doña Rosario’s enduring legacy as they thought back on the performances. Her life remains an inspiration to those who knew her, full of love, selflessness, and unwavering devotion. Her memory was honored along with the principles she held dear, guaranteeing her spirit will continue to inspire future generations.
