Promoting volunteerism and helping support the continuing need for blood, Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation hosted Project ISKOL (Involving Schools in Kindling Outreach for Life) Year 3 on Sept. 26 at the MSEUF Twin Court in Barangay Ibabang Dupay, Lucena City.
The blood donation initiative involved 158 volunteers composed of students, faculty members, employees and other members of the MSEUF community who participated in the activity from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The project encouraged young people and the wider University community to become active partners in supporting patients who require blood transfusions.
MSEUF’s Community Extension Office coordinated the University’s participation alongside NSTP-NROTC, MDS, and the nursing and medical technology student societies of the College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences. The activity also brought together government health offices, blood service institutions and community partners.
Preparations began with a coordination meeting on Aug. 24 through Google Meet, where participating stakeholders assigned responsibilities for the activity. MSEUF handled venue hosting and logistics, while the Lucena City Health Office provided manpower and assistance during the blood donation process.
The Department of Health Center for Health Development CALABARZON National Voluntary Blood Services Program coordinated and oversaw the activity. The Quezon Provincial Health Office assisted with hemoglobin screening and local coordination, while the QPHN-Quezon Medical Center Blood Bank handled blood donation logistics. Medical officers from the Philippine Red Cross–Lucena City Chapter managed possible adverse reactions among donors, while ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya supported media promotion and coverage.
Through Project ISKOL Year 3, the MSEUF community demonstrated volunteerism through blood donation while strengthening collaboration with health agencies and community organizations. The activity provided members of the University with an opportunity to contribute directly to a public health initiative intended to support patients in need of blood.
The activity supported MSEUF’s commitment to community service by mobilizing students, faculty and employees for a health initiative with direct community benefit. It also reflected the core values of Service, Unity and Mindfulness through volunteerism, interagency collaboration and concern for the well-being of others.
- SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being — Voluntary blood donation helps strengthen blood availability for patients who require transfusions and supports broader public health efforts.
- SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals — Project ISKOL brought together MSEUF, government health offices, blood service institutions, student organizations and media partners in a coordinated community health initiative.
