HISTORY

The idea of putting up a College of Nursing all began with the Pre-nursing course offered by the MSEUF during the early 1960s when nursing students were required to enroll in a pre-nursing course before they were properly trained in the Nursing program of the Quezon Memorial Hospital School of Nursing (now Quezon Medical Center).

In 2000, the MSEUF administration saw the need to offer the BS Nursing program in response to the increasing demand for healthcare professionals, particularly nurses worldwide. Thus, in 2002, Enverga University applied for and obtained the permit to operate the Bachelor of Science in the Nursing program thus establishing the College of Nursing.

The College was headed by its first dean, Dr. Evelyn P. Ciabal, and Associate Dean Felicitas Mercado. The faculty of instruction consisted of full-time faculty members and clinical instructors with master’s degrees in Nursing.

The first Capping and Pinning Ceremonies were held in December of 2003 at the Holy Face of Jesus Chapel, University Site, Lucena City solemnized with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass officiated by Rev. Fr. Jerry Juarez with Anicia Dionisio (member, Board of Nursing) as its First Guest Speaker.

Affiliation at the different hospitals in Manila started in February 2005. The affiliates stayed at the Garden Plaza Hotel. The different hospitals that the Enverga student nurses affiliated with were: San Lazaro Hospital (Sta. Cruz, Manila); the Philippine Orthopedic Center (Banawe, Quezon City), and the National Center for Mental Health (Mandaluyong City). A tour of the different hospitals in Manila such as the Lung Center of the Philippines and Veterans Hospital was also done.

In April 2006, the first batch successfully graduated with Wency Mae Habalo as its first Nightingale Awardee.

On June 11-12, 2006, the first batch consisting of 33 examinees took the Licensure Examination with Rhoda Paroa making it to fifth place. The National Passing Percentage was (48.48% against the 42.97 national passing percentage). This feat was followed by two more topnotchers: Froila Reyes (Top 9, Batch 2007) and Rosauro Briones ( Top 8, Batch,2008), and recently Jerico Carreon (Top 5) and Jack Decembrana (Top 7), both from Batch 2011.

The College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences has not stopped its effort to improve and expand. Its continuing quest for excellence in providing immediate response to the needs of the community paved the way for the opening of the Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology program in 2015 to fill the ever-growing wave of local and global clamor for health professionals answering to the complex health care demands of the 21st century.
