CME leads coastal safety outreach at Brgy. Ransohan

The Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation College of Maritime Education conducted “Saving Lives, One Appliance at a Time,” a safety demonstration and donation activity for fishermen on Feb. 15 in Brgy. Ransohan, Lucena City, to promote safer sailing and help prevent sea-related accidents.
The activity focused on the proper use of life vests equipped with whistles and flashlights, which can help fishermen stay visible, call for help and remain protected during emergencies at sea. Through the demonstration, participants learned how these safety tools can support their daily livelihood and reduce risks while sailing.
The College of Maritime Education also donated life vests with whistles and flashlights to the fishermen of Brgy. Ransohan. The donation aimed to strengthen safety preparedness among members of the coastal community, especially those who regularly face changing weather conditions and other hazards while fishing.
The outreach highlighted the college’s commitment to applying maritime knowledge in service of the community. By sharing practical safety skills and equipment, CME helped empower fisherfolk to protect themselves and their companions while at sea.
“Saving Lives, One Appliance at a Time” also reflected the value of prevention in maritime safety. The activity showed that simple but essential equipment, when used properly, can help save lives and prevent further accidents among fishermen and coastal residents.
Through the initiative, the College of Maritime Education continued to support MSEUF’s community extension mission by bringing discipline-based expertise to partner communities and promoting a culture of safety, preparedness and care.
