CME strides for environmental stewardship; Conducts Coastal Clean-Up Drive
In a concerted effort to make a positive impact on the environment, Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation recently organized a Coastal Clean-Up Drive and Plastic Bin Placement event in Brgy. Ransohan, Lucena City. The initiative, held on September 16, 2023 (Saturday), aimed to donate plastic bins and rejuvenate the coastal area of Brgy. Ransohan.
The College of Maritime Education spearheaded this environmentally conscious endeavor, drawing the participation of 37 dedicated individuals, including faculty members, CES Officers, and Regimental officers. The day commenced with a prompt assembly at CME by 0700H, where participants received opening remarks, activity instructions, and a final briefing by 0710H.
Following the comprehensive briefing, participants boarded the University Shuttle for the journey to Brgy. Ransohan, Lucena City, from 0745H to 0810H. Upon arrival at the venue, a brief 15-minute rest period allowed participants to recharge before gearing up for the main activity at 0830H.
Armed with essential materials such as garbage pickers, plastic gloves, and sacks, participants were briefed once more on the activity's objectives. The official kick-off occurred at 0850H, with participants actively engaged in cleaning up trash and unwanted materials. A well-deserved 15-minute break followed the successful completion of the cleanup.
At 1010H, participants enjoyed a communal meal, after which they assembled plastic bins strategically near a local store. Recognition for their dedicated efforts came in the form of certificates distributed to participating students and faculty. Closing remarks marked the end of the activity, leading to preparations for departure around 1100H.
Departure from Brgy. Ransohan commenced at 1110H, with participants arriving back at the CME department by 1145H. The activity concluded with a roll call and attendance gathering, during which certificates were distributed by CME students and faculty. All necessary forms, including reflection forms, were meticulously collected and filed in the College of Maritime office for documentation purposes.
This impactful initiative underscores Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation's unwavering commitment to community service and environmental responsibility, reflecting the university's broader mission to instill values of mindfulness, service, excellence, unity, and fortitude in its students.
