CCMS faculty present 3 studies at int'l conference in Indonesia
Strengthening Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation’s international research engagement in artificial intelligence, data analytics and technology-driven innovation, three faculty researchers of the College of Computing and Multimedia Studies (CCMS) presented studies at the 2nd International Conference on Advanced Data and Information Technology (ICANDIT 2026) held July 7-8 in hybrid format at Nusa Putra University in Sukabumi, Indonesia.
Asst. Prof. John Rover Sinag and Asst. Prof. Cheeky Rose Villamarzo presented their research online, while Engr. Roselyn Maaño attended and presented onsite in Indonesia. The conference brought together researchers, industry leaders, policymakers and students to exchange ideas on data science, artificial intelligence, information technology, sustainability and digital transformation.
Asst. Prof. Sinag presented “Machine Learning Models for Student Mental Health Prediction in Higher Education: A PRISMA Systematic Review and PROBAST+AI Appraisal.” The study examined the use of machine learning in predicting student mental health outcomes in higher education through a systematic review and appraisal of existing models.
Asst. Prof. Villamarzo presented “Developing a Smart Campus Decision Support System Through Data Visualization and Analytics for Student Discipline Management.” The research explored the use of data visualization and analytics in developing a decision support system for managing student discipline within a smart campus environment.
Engr. Maaño presented “Development of an AI-Based Cacao Pod Classification System Using Convolutional Neural Networks and Design Thinking for Precision Agriculture.” The study applied artificial intelligence and convolutional neural networks to cacao pod classification, integrating design thinking with precision agriculture applications.
MSEUF participated in ICANDIT 2026 as a partner university through its continuing institutional partnership with INTI. Research submissions underwent a peer-review process, while selected studies may proceed to publication opportunities in journals through the conference’s partnership arrangements.
The University’s broader delegation of presenters included Dr. Jennifer Reyes, head of Global Engagement and Linkages; Engr. Maaño, head of the Research Publication, Incubation and Utilization Center; Dr. Myrna Casipit, head of University Libraries; Dexter Villamin of the College of Education; Asst. Prof. Villamarzo of the College of Computing and Multimedia Studies; Asst. Prof. Sinag, head of the Center for Marketing Innovation and Digital Engagement; Dr. Carmina Tolentino, head of University Laboratories; and Dr. Raleen Cortez of the College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences.
The participation supported the University’s commitment to research-based knowledge, internationalization and global competitiveness by providing faculty researchers with opportunities to present technology-driven studies in an international academic forum. It also reflected the core values of Excellence, Mindfulness and Unity through collaborative research that addressed student well-being, institutional decision-making and sustainable agricultural innovation.
