CCMS welcomes freshies through virtual orientation

Preparing incoming students for university life and opportunities for academic and professional growth, the College of Computing and Multimedia Studies of Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation conducted its Freshmen Orientation on Aug. 13 through Microsoft Teams.
CCMS Dean Rodrigo Belleza Jr. formally welcomed the students, while BS Information Technology Program Coordinator Prof. Donabell Hernandez presented the University and college vision, mission, goals and core values. The orientation also introduced freshmen to faculty members, academic programs, policies, student services and resources available throughout their stay at the college.
Video presentations highlighted services from the University Registrar, Information and Communications Technology Department and University Libraries. Dean Belleza also presented “CCMS in Perspectives 2026,” while an interactive “Bring Me” activity encouraged participation among the freshmen.
Prof. David Eric Oreta discussed the University’s Policy on Academic Integrity, Acceptable Use Policy on Generative Artificial Intelligence and Policy on the Use of Copyrighted Materials. Engr. Roselyn Maaño introduced the services and initiatives of the Research Publication, Incubation and Utilization Center, while Prof. Susana De Castro discussed the Community Extension Service Program and introduced the CCMS Student Peers.
Student involvement opportunities were presented through audiovisual materials from the CCMS Department Student Council and MASTECH. The program also featured the introduction of outgoing officers, the election of first-year representatives and raffle activities before BS Computer Science Program Coordinator Prof. Cheeky Rose Villamarzo delivered the closing remarks.
Through the orientation, freshmen gained an overview of the college’s academic expectations, support systems and opportunities in research, extension and student leadership. The activity also helped establish connections between new students, faculty members and student organizations as they began their journey in computing and multimedia studies.
The orientation supported the University’s commitment to student-centered and outcomes-oriented education by helping freshmen understand the academic policies, services and development opportunities available to them. It also reflected the core values of Excellence, Unity and Mindfulness by promoting preparedness, responsible technology use, academic integrity and active participation in the CCMS community.
