Everga Sustainability Department joins ARISE Philippines annual meeting


The Sustainability Department of Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation participated in the Annual General Membership Meeting of ARISE Philippines on May 11 at the Henry Sy Sr. Auditorium, SM Prime Inc. Headquarters, to strengthen the University’s engagement in disaster risk reduction, climate resilience and sustainability.
With the theme “Accelerating Resilience by 2030: Innovate, Integrate, Impact for a Resilient and Sustainable Environment Future,” the event gathered stakeholders from government, private sector and academic institutions to advance collective action toward a disaster-resilient Philippines.
Representing MSEUF were Arby Lagman, director of the Sustainability Department, and Josh Mariñas, health and safety officer. They joined discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions with fellow ARISE Philippines members and partner institutions.
During the meeting, MSEUF was recognized as its name was mentioned in connection with disaster risk reduction and resilience initiatives implemented by the university in the past year.
The program opened with remarks from Hans Sy, chairperson of ARISE Philippines and chairman of the Executive Committee of SM Prime, who emphasized the important role of private sector leadership in building resilient communities.
Key highlights of the meeting included the presentation of the 2025 accomplishment report and strategic plans for 2026. The event also featured the launch of the Knowledge Management System of IBM Philippines and the unveiling of the new ARISE Philippines website, both designed to enhance information sharing, capacity-building and digital collaboration among members.
The meeting concluded with remarks from Engr. Liza Silerio, co-chairperson of ARISE Philippines and vice president for Corporate Compliance Group of SM Supermalls, who underscored the importance of sustained partnerships and innovation in achieving disaster resilience.
Through its participation, the MSEUF Sustainability Department reaffirmed the university’s commitment to supporting national and global efforts in resilience, sustainability and inclusive development.
The activity reflected MSEUF’s commitment to responsible institutional leadership and sustainable campus development by actively engaging in national platforms for disaster risk reduction and climate resilience. It also upheld the core values of Mindfulness, Service, Excellence and Unity as the university worked with partners to promote safer, more resilient and sustainable communities.
