How to Set Up Microsoft Authenticator for Your MSEUF Microsoft Account

A step-by-step guide for Envergans on how to secure their MSEUF Microsoft account using the Microsoft Authenticator app for multi-factor authentication MFA. Learn how to sign in safely and protect your school account from unauthorized access.

To help keep all Envergans safe online, Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation requires an additional layer of security for Microsoft accounts through Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).

This guide will help students and employees set up the Microsoft Authenticator app on their mobile device. Once enabled, the app will help verify your identity whenever you sign in to your MSEUF Microsoft account, adding extra protection against unauthorized access.

Before starting, make sure you have:

  • Your mobile phone or tablet
  • Internet connection
  • Access to your MSEUF Microsoft account credentials
  • The Microsoft Authenticator app installed on your device

This guide is intended for:

  • Students using <studentnumber>@student.mseuf.edu.ph
  • Faculty and Employees using <username>@mseuf.edu.ph 

Instructions

Step 1 — Sign In to Your MSEUF Microsoft Account

Open your preferred web browser such as:

  • Google Chrome
  • Microsoft Edge
  • Safari
  • Mozilla Firefox

Go to:
outlook.office.com

Enter your MSEUF email address:

  • Students: <studentnumber>@student.mseuf.edu.ph
  • Employees: <username>@mseuf.edu.ph

Click Next, enter your password, then click Sign in.

Step 2 — Start the Security Setup
Step 2.1 — Continue the Security Verification Setup

After signing in, you will see the screen titled:

“Let’s keep your account secure”

Click the Next button.

You will then see the “Install Microsoft Authenticator” screen.

If you do not have the Microsoft Authenticator app yet:

  • Tap the download link for:
    • Google Play Store (Android)
    • Apple App Store (iPhone/iPad)

After installing the app, return to your browser and click Next.

Step 2.2 — Install Microsoft Authenticator App

When redirected to the App Store or Play Store:

  1. Tap the Install or Download button
  2. Wait for the installation to finish
  3. Open the Microsoft Authenticator app after installation

Step 3 — Pair Your Account with the Microsoft Authenticator App

On the browser, you will now see the screen:

“Now pair Authenticator with your account”

Important:

  • Do not click the Next button yet

Instead:

  1. Click the link:
    “Pair your account to the app by clicking this link.”
  2. A confirmation dialog may appear asking:
    “Open Authenticator?”
  3. Click Open

This will automatically launch the Microsoft Authenticator app on your device.

Step 4 — Complete the Setup in the Microsoft Authenticator App

If this is your first time using the app:

  1. Allow notification permissions when prompted
  2. Follow the initial app setup instructions

Once completed:

  • Your MSEUF account will automatically be added to the app
  • You may see:
    “Account successfully added”

Inside the app dashboard, your account should appear as:

Tapping the account will display your current one-time verification code.

Step 5 — Continue the Verification Process

Return to your web browser.

You should still be on the:

“Now pair Authenticator with your account” screen.

Click the Next button.

Step 6 — Approve the Test Sign-In Request

You will now see the:

“Let’s try it out” screen.

A number will appear in the center of the screen.

At the same time:

  • Your phone will receive a notification from Microsoft Authenticator
  • The notification title may say:
    “Approve sign-in”

Open the notification.

The Microsoft Authenticator app will open and show:

“Are you trying to sign in?”

To approve the sign-in:

  1. Type the number shown on your browser screen into the app
    • Example: 82
  2. Tap Yes

This confirms that your device is successfully connected to your account.

Step 7 — Finish the Setup

Return to your browser once again.

You should now see:

“Authenticator Added”

If the page does not update immediately, wait a few moments.

To complete the setup:

  1. Click the Done button

Your Microsoft Authenticator setup is now complete.

Your MSEUF Microsoft account contains important academic and institutional information. Keeping it secure helps protect your personal data, school records, emails, and access to university services.

As an Envergan, always practice safe account security habits to avoid unauthorized access or account compromise.

Important Security Reminders

  • Never share your password or verification codes with anyone
  • Do not approve sign-in requests that you did not initiate
  • Avoid logging in on untrusted or public computers
  • Always sign out after using shared devices
  • Keep your mobile device secured with a PIN, fingerprint, or Face ID
  • Be cautious of suspicious emails, links, or fake login pages
  • Regularly update your password if needed
  • Only install apps from official app stores

If you accidentally approved an unknown sign-in request or suspect suspicious activity on your account, change your password immediately and contact ICTD for assistance.
