How to Set Up Apple Passwords App (iCloud Keychain) for Your MSEUF Microsoft Account
Learn how to use Apples Passwords app, formerly associated with iCloud Keychain, to set up multi-factor authentication MFA for your MSEUF Microsoft account. This guide helps Envergans securely generate verification codes on Apple devices iPhones, iPads, and Macs.
To further strengthen account security for all Envergans, Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation uses Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for Microsoft accounts.
Apple devices such as iPhones and iPads include the built-in Passwords app, which can securely generate one-time verification codes for your Microsoft account. The Passwords app is the modern password manager of Apple and works together with iCloud Keychain for securely storing and syncing passwords and verification codes across Apple devices.
This guide will help students and employees set up the Apple Passwords app for their MSEUF Microsoft account.
Before starting, make sure you have:
- An iPhone or iPad
- Internet connection
- Access to your MSEUF Microsoft account credentials
- The Passwords app available on your Apple device
This guide is intended for:

Instructions
Step 1 — Sign In to Your MSEUF Microsoft Account
Open your preferred web browser such as:
- Safari
- Google Chrome
- Microsoft Edge
- Mozilla Firefox
Go to:outlook.office.com
Enter your MSEUF email address:
- Students:
<studentnumber>@student.mseuf.edu.ph - Employees:
<username>@mseuf.edu.ph
Click Next, enter your password, then click Sign in.
During the login process, you may see a:
“Save Password?” dialog from the Apple Passwords app.
You may tap Save so the account will automatically appear in the Passwords app later, making the setup easier.
Step 2 — Choose a Different Authentication App
After signing in, you will see the screen titled:
“Let’s keep your account secure”
Click the Next button.
You will then see the:
“Install Microsoft Authenticator” screen.
Important:
- Do not click the download button
- Do not click the Next button
Instead:
- Click the link:
“Set up a different authentication app”
Step 3 — Make Sure the Passwords App Is Installed
The Apple Passwords app is already installed by default on most:
- iPhones
- iPads
If you cannot find it:
- Open the App Store
- Search for:
Passwords - Install the app if needed
Step 4 — Open the Passwords App
Open the Passwords app on your Apple device.
If you used the “Save Password?” option earlier
- Tap the All card
- Your recently saved MSEUF account should appear near the top of the list
You may proceed directly to the next step.
Step 4.1 — Manually Add the Account (If Needed)
If you did not use the Save Password? option earlier:
- Tap the Plus (+) button at the bottom-right corner
- The:
“New Password” dialog will appear
Fill in the fields as follows:
- Title
- You may type any label you prefer
- Example:
MSEUF
- User Name
- Enter your MSEUF Microsoft email account
- Password
- Enter the password you used when signing in earlier
- Website
- Type:
login.microsoftonline.com
- Type:
- Notes (Optional)
- You may add personal notes if needed
Once completed:
- Tap the Check (✓) button at the top-right corner
Step 4.2 — Select the Correct Account Record
Tap the All card to view all saved accounts.
If you both:
- Saved the password earlier
- Added the account manually
You may see two records of the same account.
Choose which record you want to use, then delete the duplicate if needed.
In this example, we will use the account titled:
MSEUF
Step 5 — Open the Verification Code Setup
Select your chosen account record.
Then:
- Tap the Edit button at the top-right corner
- Tap:
“Set Up Code”
Step 6 — Add the Verification Setup Key
The:
“Set Up Verification Code” dialog will appear.
Return to your browser.
If you are not yet on the:
“Enter the following into Authenticator” screen
Click the Next button until you reach it.
Once on the correct screen:
- Click:
“Copy key” - Return to the Passwords app
- Paste the copied key into the:
Setup Key field
After pasting:
- The Use Setup Key button should become available
Tap:
“Use Setup Key”
Once the dialog closes:
- You may see:
“Save to View Code” in the Code section
To finish editing the account:
- Tap the blue Check (✓) button at the top-right corner
Step 7 — Copy and Enter the Verification Code
After saving:
- A Code section will now appear below the password field
- The current verification code will appear on the right side
To copy the code:
- Tap the Code section once
- Tap:
“Copy Code”
Return to your browser.
If you are not yet on the:
“Enter the code” screen
Click the Next button.
Once on the verification screen:
- Paste the copied code into the input field
- Click the Next button
Step 8 — Finish the Setup
If successful, you will now see:
“Authenticator app added”
To complete the setup:
- Click the Done button
Your Apple Passwords app setup is now complete.

Your MSEUF Microsoft account contains important academic and institutional information. Enabling Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) using Apple’s Passwords app helps protect your account against unauthorized access and online threats.

Important Security Reminders
- Never share your password or verification codes with anyone
- Do not approve or enter codes for unknown login requests
- Keep your iPhone or iPad secured with Face ID, Touch ID, or a device passcode
- Be cautious of phishing emails, suspicious links, and fake login pages
- Avoid saving your account on untrusted or public devices
- Keep your Apple device updated to the latest software version
- Only install applications from official Apple sources
- If your device is lost or stolen, immediately secure your account and contact ICTD
