The Political Science Society of the Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation actively participated in a tree-planting activity held on February 10 at the MSEUF Forest Research Site, as part of the celebration of the University’s 79th Founding Anniversary and its continuing commitment to environmental sustainability.

Registration began at 6:30 a.m. at the University campus, with participants composed of faculty members and students from different school organizations of MSEUF. The group departed at 6:55 a.m. and arrived at the site at 7:10 a.m. The program opened with welcome remarks from Director Maria Isabel Granada, followed by the singing of the University Hymn led by Mr. Celso Jaballa. Atty. Dario Opistan then delivered a message highlighting the significance of environmental initiatives and partnerships.

A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was subsequently signed between the Philippine Coconut Authority and Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation, formalizing cooperation on coconut planting and related programs. After the signing, participants proceeded with the planting of 100 coconut seedlings. A final headcount was conducted before returning to the University campus, where certificates were awarded to formally conclude the activity.

The activity featured the planting of dwarf coconut tree seedlings donated by the Philippine Coconut Authority–Quezon. Organizers noted that these seedlings are expected to contribute to long-term ecological sustainability, while also providing potential livelihood and economic benefits to surrounding communities. The initiative highlighted the practical value of reforestation efforts in addressing both environmental and socio-economic concerns.

The collaboration between the University and the Philippine Coconut Authority emphasized the importance of partnerships between academic institutions and government agencies in advancing environmental protection and sustainable development. It demonstrated how coordinated efforts can strengthen environmental advocacy and translate institutional goals into community-centered action.

Representatives of the Political Science Society actively took part in the tree-planting activity, reaffirming their commitment to civic responsibility, environmental consciousness, and public service. Their participation also strengthened solidarity among student leaders and reinforced their role in supporting university-wide initiatives that promote sustainability, leadership, and social awareness.

The activity reflected the University’s core values of Service, Unity, and Fortitude by mobilizing the academic community toward a shared environmental objective. It also served as an experiential learning opportunity, allowing students to engage directly in sustainability initiatives and apply values of civic engagement and responsibility in a real-world context.
