CCMS student leaders join PEERS training program
Student leaders from the College of Computing and Multimedia Studies participated in the Peer Envergan for Emotional Resilience and Support Training Program on Oct. 24, at EMRC VI A of Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation to strengthen emotional resilience, mental health awareness and peer support on campus.
The Office of Student Affairs and Services organized the training to develop peer support competencies among student representatives.
Argelou Paderes, a registered psychologist and psychometrician, served as the resource speaker.
Paderes led discussions and activities on empathy, active listening, emotional regulation and supportive communication.
Five officers and representatives from the MSEUF Association of Multimedia Artists and Technologists joined the program and participated in scenario-based exercises designed to prepare them as first-line peer supporters within their organizations.
Organizers said the training equipped student leaders with practical skills in responsible facilitation and effective communication, helping them better recognize and respond to peers experiencing emotional challenges.
Participants shared that the program increased their confidence in providing support and contributing to a more understanding and compassionate campus culture.
The session concluded with reflections on applying the learned skills to promote mental well-being within the college and the wider university community.
The activity supported Enverga University’s mission of holistic and student-centered education by recognizing mental and emotional well-being as an important part of student learning and development. It reflected the core values of Mindfulness, Service, Unity and Excellence by promoting mental health awareness, peer support, collaboration and responsible student leadership.
