The Mathematics Society of Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation marked its first observance of the International Day of Mathematics through a Pi Day celebration on March 13, at the AE Building.

Held a day before the official Pi Day on March 14, or 3.14, the activity brought together future educators and mathematics enthusiasts for competitions and interactive games that highlighted the relevance of mathematics in everyday life.

The Mathematics Society organized the celebration in partnership with AGHAM. The event featured four major activities: Math Wizard Quest, Online Quiz Contest, Pi Art Contest and Meme-Making Contest.

The Math Wizard Quest served as one of the highlights of the celebration. The team-building activity challenged participants to complete mathematics-related tasks across five stations, encouraging collaboration, critical thinking and teamwork among students from different academic backgrounds.

“Through this celebration, the wizards of the organization come together despite their diverse academic pursuits, united by a common goal — to experience the magic of mathematics woven into creativity, collaboration and everyday life,” Mathematics Society President Allyza De los Reyes said.

The Online Quiz Contest was conducted through the organization’s official social media page to reach a wider audience. Participants answered questions about renowned mathematicians and their contributions to society, helping deepen appreciation for the history and development of mathematics.

The Pi Art Contest and Meme-Making Contest allowed students to express mathematical concepts through creativity, visual art and humor. These activities showed the versatility of mathematics and encouraged participants to connect the subject with everyday experiences.

More than an organizational activity, the Pi Day celebration united learners through a shared appreciation of mathematics. The event emphasized the role of mathematics in promoting learning, creativity, problem-solving and collaboration among future educators.

The activity aligned with Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation’s commitment to student-centered and experiential learning by giving students opportunities to apply mathematical knowledge through creative and collaborative activities. It also reflected the core values of Excellence, Unity and Mindfulness by encouraging intellectual curiosity, teamwork and appreciation for the value of mathematics in everyday life.
