The Mathematics Society formally welcomed its new members during the Acceptance of New Wizards held on Aug. 30 at EDUC 206, marking the start of their active participation in the organization.
The activity gathered 28 members and served as both an induction and orientation session for newly accepted Wizards. Society officers facilitated the deliberation and acceptance process before leading the first official meeting with the new members.
During the meeting, officers presented the organization’s plans, upcoming activities, and internal processes to guide members in fulfilling their roles and responsibilities. Discussions also covered organizational policies, including the impeachment process, to ensure clarity on conduct, accountability, and governance within the society.
To strengthen collaboration and operational efficiency, members were assigned to various committees, allowing responsibilities to be distributed across the organization and encouraging active involvement in projects and initiatives.
The activity concluded with the formal integration of all new members into their respective committees, setting a strong foundation for unity and cooperation as the Mathematics Society pursues its goals for the academic year. Organizers noted that the project benefited the society’s members and incurred no expenses.
The activity reflects the University’s commitment to Excellence and Unity by fostering leadership, accountability, and collaboration among students. It also demonstrates Mindfulness and Service as the organization ensures members are informed, engaged, and prepared to contribute meaningfully to academic and co-curricular life.
