AOMS strengthens leadership; joins LEAPS planning workshop
To strengthen the organization's planning, leadership, and activity management for the academic year, The Association of Operations Management Students (AOMS) officers participated in the Leaders Advancement Program and Services (LEAPS) Planning Workshop: Student Organizations Assembly (EU Leaders: Empowering and Uniting for Collaborative Success).
The workshop equipped AOMS officers with practical strategies for developing well-structured and sustainable programs that align with the organization's goals and the University's standards. Through the discussions, participants gained a deeper understanding of how effective planning supports successful activities by establishing clear objectives, maximizing available resources, and promoting efficient coordination among members.
One of the workshop's key discussions focused on the Permit to Conduct Activity and Request for Venue (PCARV) process. The session emphasized the importance of preparing a properly accomplished PCARV for every organizational activity to ensure compliance with University policies, facilitate coordination, and support the smooth implementation of programs. The discussion provided AOMS officers with guidance for organizing future academic, leadership, and community engagement initiatives.
The workshop also highlighted the value of developing a comprehensive Plan of Activities. AOMS officers learned the importance of setting defined objectives, preparing realistic budgets, identifying fundraising strategies, and creating contingency plans to minimize risks and maintain continuity when unexpected situations arise. These planning practices support the organization's commitment to delivering organized and meaningful programs for Operations Management students.
Another key learning centered on the use of SWOT Analysis as a strategic planning tool. By identifying organizational strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, AOMS can better evaluate proposed projects and align future initiatives with its mission of developing competent, innovative, and service-oriented Operations Management students.
In addition, the workshop introduced practical planning techniques, sample organizational activities, and the importance of conducting post-activity evaluations. Assessing completed programs and gathering participant feedback will help AOMS identify areas for improvement, measure the effectiveness of its initiatives, and continuously enhance the quality of future projects and services for its members.
Through its participation in the LEAPS Planning Workshop, AOMS reinforced its commitment to excellence in organizational leadership and operations. The knowledge and strategies gained during the assembly will serve as a foundation for future academic, leadership, and community engagement programs that provide meaningful learning opportunities for Operations Management students.
