The MSEUF DOST Scholars’ Guild, in partnership with the MSEUF Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants, launched a community outreach project titled “One Page at a Time: An EUJPIA’s Mini Library Initiative” at the Lucena South II Elementary School to promote literacy and strengthen reading habits among young learners, March 6.

The initiative established a mini library that provides supplementary reading materials to support the school curriculum and enhance students’ comprehension and vocabulary through regular access to books.

Organizers said the project aimed to create a dedicated learning space where pupils can explore reading materials freely and develop a deeper interest in reading.

“This initiative reflects our commitment to service and our goal of supporting education in local communities,” a student organizer said.

The collaboration between the two student organizations highlighted their shared advocacy for community engagement and educational support.

Following the implementation, students expressed enthusiasm in exploring the mini library, which contributed to a more engaging and supportive learning environment.

Organizers noted that the project not only addressed literacy needs but also provided a developmental space that encourages curiosity and continuous learning among young learners.

The initiative reflected the University’s core values of Service, Unity and Excellence by extending educational support beyond the campus and empowering communities through literacy. It also supported transformative and student-centered learning by allowing students to apply their knowledge in meaningful outreach activities.

  • SDG 4 – Quality Education: The mini library improved access to learning resources and supported literacy development among children.
  • SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities: The initiative helped bridge educational gaps by providing resources to underserved learners.
  • SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals: Collaboration between student organizations strengthened community-based educational initiatives.
