MSEUF CCJC, BFP Lucena formalize internship partnership through formal MoA signing

Strengthening experiential learning and professional preparation for criminology students, Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation, through the College of Criminal Justice and Criminology, formalized its partnership with the Bureau of Fire Protection Lucena City Fire Station through a memorandum of agreement signing on Sept. 4 at the IGSR Conference Room.

The program began at 9 a.m. with the arrival of BFP Lucena City Fire Station officials for the formalization of the partnership, which focuses on local internship opportunities and other collaborative initiatives for CCJC students.

The BFP delegation included Fire Chief Inspector Charlie Beltran, Senior Fire Officer 4 Fernando Maaño, Senior Fire Officer 3 Ferdinand Gapit and SFO1 Jan Vincent Alva. They were welcomed by CCJC Dean Dr. Henedina Lagumen, CCJC Department Chair Dr. Monette Tenorio, CSCJPS Head Maria Isabel Granada and Global Engagement and Linkages Head Dr. Jennifer Reyes.

Dr. Claudia Odette Ayala delivered the opening message and emphasized the importance of building partnerships that benefit both students and the community. Dr. Lagumen then presented the rationale for the institutional linkage, highlighting the value of internship and training experiences in helping students develop competencies and gain exposure to professional work environments.

FCInsp. Beltran, speaking on behalf of the BFP Lucena City Fire Station, underscored the agency’s commitment to supporting the safety, health and knowledge development of MSEUF students during training. He also recognized the long-standing partnership between BFP and MSEUF-CCJC.

Granada emphasized that the partnership could extend beyond internship placement to include career placement and professional development opportunities for CCJC graduates, strengthening long-term collaboration between the University and the agency.

The program highlighted the ceremonial signing of the memorandum of agreement and exchange of certificates, formally affirming the shared commitment of MSEUF-CCJC and the BFP Lucena City Fire Station to sustained cooperation.

After the ceremony, participants continued discussions at Café 1947 over coffee and an early lunch, where they explored possible future activities and additional areas of collaboration.
