Enverga University advances green initiatives with second-year UI GreenMetric submission
To strengthen its sustainability performance and maintain its standing among environmentally responsible universities worldwide, Enverga University submitted its second-year UI GreenMetric World University Ranking report, Nov. 8.
The submission resulted from the month-long work of the MSEUF GreenMetric Task Force led by VP Celso Jaballa, who coordinated with deans, directors, faculty, and staff to review each component of the ranking system. The team conducted three sets of planning and workshop sessions to refine campus-wide strategies aligned with GreenMetric criteria.
VP Jaballa said he was proud of the task force and the Envergan community for meeting international expectations through collaborative and consistent effort. “It is inspiring to see a team so dedicated to advancing MSEUF’s sustainability goals,” VP Jaballa said.
The criteria examined included setting and infrastructure, energy and climate change, waste management, water usage, transportation, and education and research. Each area was led by designated university officials who reviewed progress on green spaces, energy use, carbon footprint reduction, waste systems, water conservation, mobility, and environmental education.
The UI GreenMetric criteria, which guide the evaluation, include:
- Setting and Infrastructure (Dir. Leah T. Salas)– Campus planning, green spaces, and sustainable building practices.
- Energy and Climate Change (Engr. Cielito Maligalig and Engr. Ariel Nicolas)– Energy consumption, carbon footprint, and climate-conscious initiatives.
- Waste Management( Dir. Arby M. Lagman)) – Solid waste reduction, recycling programs, and proper disposal systems.
- Water Usage (Engr. Renato Vergara) – Efficient water management and conservation practices.
- Transportation (VP Carlito M. Rodriguez) Sustainable commuting options, vehicle management, and campus connectivity.
- Education and Research (Dean Rodrigo D. Belleza Jr. and Dir. Roselyn A. Maaño) – Curriculum integration, environmental research, and awareness campaigns.
Through the workshops and planning sessions, Dr. Jennifer B. Reyes, John Rover R. Sinag and Mark Gaylord P. Genovaña to complete the task force developed strategies to strengthen MSEUF’s sustainability efforts across all criteria, ensuring compliance with international standards and enhancing the University’s environmental impact.
Dr. Jennifer Reyes, director of the Global Engagement Office, emphasized that sustainability extends beyond ranking performance and reflects the University’s broader responsibility to future generations. She said the task force’s progress demonstrated the campus-wide commitment to greener and more resilient practices.
The University thanked the task force and the entire Envergan community for their support of ongoing environmental initiatives aimed at meeting global sustainability benchmarks.
This collective effort reflects the University’s commitment to Mindfulness, Service, and Excellence by championing environmental responsibility and embedding sustainability into academic and operational systems. It reinforces a culture of Unity and Fortitude as the institution works together to uphold international standards and advance transformative, student-centered learning.
