CCJC varsity, alumni, faculty strengthen ties through Sportsfest exhibition game

Strengthening alumni engagement, camaraderie and school spirit, the College of Criminal Justice and Criminology brought together current student-athletes, graduates and faculty members for a basketball exhibition game during the CCJC Sportsfest on Aug. 7 at the Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation Twin Court.

The friendly yet competitive match featured the CCJC Varsity Players against a team composed of CCJC alumni and faculty members. Both teams demonstrated teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship before the varsity players emerged victorious.

Alumni basketball players who returned for the activity included John Patrick Lozano and Romero Ranas, both from Batch 2023; Jerico Nobleza, Batch 2019 and a fire safety inspector with the Bureau of Fire Protection in Catanauan; Ronel Carlo Pita, Batch 2025; and John Anfernee Perez, Batch 2021 and a member of the Philippine National Police–Presidential Security Group.

Other CCJC alumni who attended the event were Rein Madeleine Parado, Dessa Mae Bueno, Janelle Ann Layba, Ian Christian Fajilan, Toni Valerie Oliva and Mary Ann Brinces, all from Batch 2025, and Mary Grace Tagulinao, Batch 2019, an examiner/verifier with the Accounting Section of the Financial Management Division of the Bureau of Fire Protection Regional Office 4A.

Beyond the final score, the exhibition game provided an opportunity for different generations of the CCJC community to reconnect and share a common experience through sports. The participation of alumni and faculty members strengthened relationships with current students while encouraging teamwork and continued involvement with the college.

The activity also highlighted sports as an avenue for maintaining connections between graduates and their alma mater while fostering unity, sportsmanship and a shared sense of belonging within the CCJC community.
