Criminology students reaffirm commitment to integrity, ethics at CCJC Seminar
In a continuing effort to shape competent and values-driven professionals, the College of Criminal Justice and Criminology (CCJC) of Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation hosted a seminar on “Integrity and Ethics in Criminology: Upholding Justice and Professional Responsibility” on April 4
Police Major Marcelito Paz Platino, a proud alumnus of CCJC Batch 2023, served as the guest speaker. With his experience in the field and strong roots in the Envergan community, PMAJ Platino shared real-world insights on the importance of moral integrity and ethical conduct in the practice of criminology.
The seminar reinforced a powerful message: that knowledge and skills in criminology must always be grounded in ethical responsibility and unwavering integrity. It highlighted the critical role criminologists, law enforcers, and justice professionals play in maintaining public trust and ensuring fairness within the justice system.
“Integrity is not just about honesty—it’s about choosing what is right even when it is difficult,” PMAJ Platino emphasized during his talk. He spoke about the challenges faced by criminal justice professionals and how ethical decision-making protects not only the system but also the rights and dignity of individuals.
As a field that upholds peace, order, and the rule of law, criminology demands more than technical competence. It calls for character. Without integrity, systems risk being undermined by corruption and abuse of power. The seminar reminded students that ethical practices are not optional—they are essential.
This initiative forms part of CCJC’s continuous effort to instill professional responsibility among its students. By engaging future criminologists in meaningful conversations about ethics, the college helps build a foundation for a more just, humane, and principled criminal justice system.
