In line with the goals of the institution and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, to promote and build sustainable development within and outside of the academic community (SDG 11 and SDG 17), the Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation (MSEUF) College of Architecture and Fine Arts  (CAFA) celebrates the World Architecture Day (WAD) 2024 together with the officers and members of the United Architects of the Philippines -Quezon Province Chapter, Oct. 7.

In response to this year's theme "Mobilizing the next Generation for Urban Transformation," the MSEUF CAFA held group competition where participants are set to identify environmental and built environment problems that exist in the present-day situation by creating visual representations in the form of drawing or graphics.

CAFA students were also tasked to answer questions about finding possible solutions to the identified environmental problems and to cite their contributions by developing corresponding solutions.

The MSEUF CAFA joined the architecture community by facilitating activities that encouraged students to be part of the next generation, including the contributions of young architects where they partake in shaping the cities of tomorrow.

CAFA students were also encouraged to think of solutions in creating cities that are inclusive, with the capacity to meet the diverse needs of different groups, in an environmentally friendly setting.

The International Union of Architects or the Union Internationale des Architectes (UIA) initiated the WAD. UIA is global organization established in 1948, composed of professional organizations with the intent of unifying architects, as well to support the advancement of architecture and to shape public policies leading to render services that meet the needs of society.

  • SDG 11 - Sustainable Cities and Communities: The event focuses on urban transformation, encouraging students to identify and propose solutions to environmental and urban issues. This directly aligns with the goal of making cities inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable.
  • SDG 13 - Climate Action: By addressing environmental problems and promoting sustainable urban development, the activities support efforts to combat climate change and its impacts through innovative architectural solutions.
  • SDG 17 - Partnerships for the Goals: The collaboration between MSEUF CAFA and the United Architects of the Philippines - Quezon Province Chapter emphasizes partnerships between academia and professional organizations to work towards sustainable development, reflecting SDG 17's focus on revitalizing global partnerships.
