DepEd visits basic ed dept for annual monitoring of gov't assistance, subsidies programs
To ensure continued quality and accountability of private schools benefiting from government assistance, the Department of Education (DepEd) conducted its annual monitoring of private schools participating in the Government Assistance and Subsidies (GAS) Programs, Oct. 15.
The GAS Programs, which include the Educational Service Contracting (ESC) and Teachers’ Salary Subsidy (TSS), provide financial support to qualified students and teachers in private education institutions. The annual monitoring activity aims to ensure that participating schools comply with DepEd standards and implement the programs effectively and transparently.
The monitoring team was composed of officials from the DepEd CALABARZON Regional Office and the Schools Division of Lucena City including Pascual La Rosa Jr., Nancy La Rosa, Mary Cleire Miguel, Lea Garcia, and Jeffrie Ditablan of the Quality Assurance Division (QAD). Also present were Michael Girard Alba, Chief of the Field Technical Assistance Division (FTAD); Lorenzo Ruiz Costo, Senior Education Program Specialist from the Policy, Planning and Research Division (PPRD); Mabel Abrencillo, Education Program Specialist from FTAD; and Eric Balancio of QAD.
Reina Pasumbal, Principal of the MSEUF Basic Education Department, together with Rommel Hiloma, Assistant Principal, Nikko Del Moro, Learner Information System (LIS) Coordinator, Erlyn Atienza, the Chief Advisers of the Junior High School Department, and the Senior High School coordinators welcomed the team where they also extended their full cooperation and support throughout the conduct of the monitoring.
During the visit, the monitoring team conducted document reviews, classroom observations, and interviews with administrators and faculty members to assess the school’s compliance with the standards and operational requirements of the GAS programs. An online interview with selected students was also conducted to gather their insights and experiences regarding the implementation of the assistance programs.
Principal Pasumbal expressed her appreciation to the DepEd monitoring team for their continued support and guidance, emphasizing MSEUF’s commitment to providing quality education while ensuring proper implementation of government assistance programs.
The visit concluded successfully, highlighting DepEd’s dedication to ensuring accountability, transparency, and quality among participating private schools. MSEUF remains steadfast in its mission to continuously improve educational services and uphold its partnership with DepEd in promoting accessible and excellent education for all learners.
