Nurturing Hope, One Peso at a Time: Enverga University’s Basic Education Community Extension Service Feeds Hearts and Minds

Two signature programs under the department’s Community Extension Service (CES) — the "Tuluy-tuloy na Busog, Lusog, Talino Program" for Elementary and Junior High School, and the "Busog, Lakas, Talino Program" for Senior High School — are helping bridge the gaps in nutrition, wellness, and educational support for young learners in nearby public schools.

A Culture of Giving Begins with the Young

In the spirit of mindful service and fortitude, each student from Enverga University's Basic Education Department contributes just ₱1 a day, or ₱200 each academic year, to sustain feeding programs and outreach activities. These small daily sacrifices collectively create life-changing outcomes for children in the local community.

At Elvira Razon Elementary School, the Tuluy-tuloy na Busog, Lusog, Talino Program—spearheaded by CES Coordinators Mr. Ian Christopher Guiruela and Mr. Glenn Mendelivar—has become a dependable source of nourishment and encouragement. Through regular feeding sessions, medical check-ups, and gift-giving activities, beneficiaries receive not only sustenance but also the warmth of care from their older peers.

Similarly, the Senior High School (SHS) department, through its Busog, Lakas, Talino Program coordinated by Mr. Joel Rex Villasin, reaches out to pupils of Barra Elementary School with the same mission: to uplift both body and mind. The program reinforces the importance of good health as a foundation for learning and development, especially for children in underserved communities.

More Than a Meal

These community outreach initiatives go beyond providing food—they nurture dignity, confidence, and connection. By investing in the well-being of others, Envergan students develop empathy, leadership, and a deepened sense of social responsibility.

Moreover, the programs align with global efforts to promote Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—particularly SDG 2: Zero Hunger, SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, and SDG 4: Quality Education. They exemplify how local solutions, powered by student-led efforts, can contribute meaningfully to national and international development goals.

Sustaining the Mission

As these initiatives continue year after year, they become more than projects—they become traditions of service embedded in the identity of the Envergan community. Every packed meal, every smile shared, and every peso donated is a reminder that education is not only about academic excellence, but also about nurturing the heart.

By teaching young Envergans to reach out with kindness, Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation is raising a new generation of leaders—strong not just in intellect, but in compassion.

At the Core: Service Rooted in Values

At its heart, the success of these CES programs lies in the university’s enduring commitment to its core values: Mindfulness, Service, Excellence, Unity, and Fortitude. These values are not only taught in classrooms—they are lived and shared through every outreach program and community engagement.

Indeed, through these heartfelt efforts, Envergans are not just feeding stomachs—they are feeding futures.
