This architectural project is about the development of an Urban Sky Farm as a cumulative measure to strengthen food security in the urban areas. By applying sustainable building technologies to guarantee the continuous supply of safe, nutritious and affordable crops such as grains, legumes, tubers, vegetables, fruits and livestock not only that urban communities will be more productive but they will also function as contributors to provide gradual repair of the ecosystems. In particular, the use of abandoned buildings and other structures for urban farming will promote good health, provide more opportunities for employment, generate cleaner air, promote the safer use of municipal liquid waste and to achieve an abundant supply of safe drinking water. With Urban Farms, Agri-tecture serves as the extension of the Green Revolution of the 60s and 70s, where traditional harmful methods are replaced with more innovative solutions such as the use of Hydroponic and Aeroponic farming systems that were proposed into this project.
