LEVEL OF READINESS OF SEAFARERS IN AN UNMANNED VESSEL

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the level of readiness of seafarers regarding the insights of the unmanned vessel, The researcher determined the demographic profile name, age, and rank. In addition, it seeks to identify the advantages and disadvantages of unmanned vessels. The respondents for this study who have experienced working onboard deck or engine department either active or non-active. The research study’s total respondents are 50 seafarers, including the MSEUF seafarer’s professor. The study used the survey questionnaire which has three parts that the respondents need to answer by checking the appropriate answer. The results of the survey questionnaire were interpreted by using statistical treatment such as percentage and weighted mean. The results show that the output of this study should be the creation of a related study regarding the level of readiness of seafarers in an unmanned vessel. The study is a descriptive quantitative which aims to describe the level of readiness of seafarers in vessels the numerical data will be gathered. Furthermore, the results have shown that the preparation of seafarers in an unmanned vessel is in good condition but it still needs improvements. The study also concludes that the respondents had attended related training regarding a possible incident on board which may support the idea of an unmanned ship's future safety purposes. The result of the survey questionnaire showed a 30.36 WAM (Weighted Average Mean) regarding the preparation of seafarers in an unmanned ship. It has the lowest percentage on the statement ". While the results about the perceived impact of the unmanned vessel on the seafarer's employment showed a 28.11 WAM having the lowest percentage on the statement ". The overall result regarding the level of readiness of seafarers in an unmanned vessel showed a 38.21 WAM which interprets a Strongly Agree response.
