Sustainable Tourism Practices of Selected Beach Resorts in Quezon Province

Abstract

The researcher believes that every resort should practice sustainability to ensure an appropriate approach to tourism development. The purpose of this study is to identify the various sustainable tourism practices in beach resorts in District I Quezon province, such as business characteristics, sustainable tourism practices in terms of environment, socio-cultural and economic dimension, the level of practices, the impacts of sustainable tourism practices in the community, and the challenges faced by the resort. This study employed a descriptive research design and quantitative approach. Purposive sampling in a non-random way is used for the respondents, which are the beach resort owners and employees with a total of 83 respondents, and the data is collected through Google form and analyzed through statistical treatment such as Frequency and Percentage, Ranking, Weighted Mean, Standard Deviation, and ANOVA. To support the study, the researchers are guided by the model of tourism development adapted from UNWTO (2005) and Triple Bottom Line, created by Andrew Savitz, and the New Environmental Paradigm. According to the findings of this study, beach resorts practice sustainability in all three dimensions: environmental, sociocultural, and economic. The output of this paper is a pamphlet in support of sustainability that would help owners and employees of Beach resort in District I of Quezon Province towards awareness of the best practices regarding sustainability.
